Ludwig Philipp (* December 20, 1889 ; † January 4, 1964 ), also called "Fips", was a German football player .

Philipp initially played for FC Noris Nürnberg , which emerged from the football department of MTV Nürnberg .

Philipp belonged to 1. FC Nürnberg from 1905 to 1919 , for which he was used in the championships organized by the South German Football Association . First he played the 1905/06 season in Gau Nordbayern within the southern district and immediately won his first title.

In the following season he played in Gau Middle Franconia within the eastern district , from which he emerged as champion, won the eastern district championship, but lost the final of the southern German championship against Freiburg FC after a two-way leg with an overall result of 2: 4. In the following seasons he won other titles with the team. In terms of success, it was enough to make it to the South German runner-up in 1908 and 1909 . In 1916 it was enough to win the title, due to the 4-1 victory against FC Pfalz Ludwigshafen in Stuttgart on July 30th .

In 1919, due to allegedly underpaid expenses, he moved to the Nuremberg FV , which joined the ASN Nuremberg on July 1, 1925 .

From 1927 to 1931 he played for Wormatia Worms in the regional league Main / Hessen , which was divided into two groups, and from the 1928/29 season he was also the team's coach. Four times emerged as the winner of the Hessen group, he took part with the team four times in the final round of the South German Championship.

National team

The all-rounder played two international matches in 1910, not only playing a center forward, but also playing left winger, half-left player and defender. He benefited from his speed; after all, he was a talented athlete who had been the North Bavarian champion in the 100-meter run. He made his debut in the senior national team on April 3 in Basel in a 3-2 victory over the Swiss national team . With the 2-4 defeat against the national team of the Netherlands on April 24th in Arnhem , his career as a national player came to an end , the first the club provided and the first from Bavaria.
