Ludwig Steininger

Ludwig Steininger (born October 28, 1890 in Vohenstrauß ; † July 11, 1979 there ) was an Upper Palatinate painter. In his pictures he mainly devoted himself to the landscapes of his homeland.

Life

Steininger began studying at the Munich School of Applied Arts at the age of 17 . After military service and deployment in World War I , his works were exhibited for the first time in the Albrecht Dürer Association in Nuremberg from 1919 . Further exhibitions in Dresden , Augsburg and Munich followed.

Honors

In 1960 Steininger was awarded the Nordgau Culture Prize of the city of Amberg in the “ Fine Arts ” category, and in 1978 the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany.
