Ludwig Striegel

Ludwig Striegel (* 1954 in Munich ; † February 19, 2016 ) was a German musician, pianist , music teacher , author and university professor.

Career

After graduating from high school in Augsburg and then doing military service in Munich, Ludwig Striegel studied school music and graduated with the first and second state exams in 1979 and 1981 respectively. This was followed by an 11-year school service in Augsburg until he was appointed to the State Institute for School Quality and Educational Research in Munich in 1991 as a speaker for music in all types of schools. After receiving his doctorate in 1995 at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater with a thesis on Erik Satie with Hermann Rauhe , he devoted himself to teacher training and was appointed to a professorship for music education at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in 1999 . Since 2000, Ludwig Striegel was professor for music education and music didactics as well as head of the school music department at the Mainz University of Music , of which he was rector from 2011 to 2014. As an author and editor, he created the series of publications PianoPädagogik , gave teachers' handouts for class lessons and appeared in radio broadcasts and as a pianist in talks and meditation concerts on new music.
