Ludwig Thimme
Ludwig Thimme (born September 24, 1873 in Groß-Heere near Hanover , † January 19, 1966 in Volmerdingsen ) was a German theologian who was part of the community movement .
Life
Ludwig Thimme was the son of a pastor and grew up with ten siblings. His sister Magdalene became a teacher, his brother Friedrich became a historian, and the younger brother Wilhelm also became a theologian and university professor. He studied theology in Göttingen , Erlangen and Berlin . From 1906 to 1914 he held a pastor's position in Intschede , until 1923 he was theological assistant at the German Community Diakonieverband in Marburg and from 1924 to 1930 he was parish pastor at the north-east parish in Frankfurt am Main . There he dealt intensively with the role of the community movement and wrote some books.
In 1942, together with his brother-in-law Gottfried Schmidt-Domine and his brother Wilhelm Thimme, he completed his translation of the New Testament , which was published in 1946 by the Privileged Württemberg Biblical Society .
He advocated strengthening the role of pastors as early as 1916.
