Konrad Ludwig Dietrich Zinkeisen (born June 3, 1779 in Hanover , † November 28, 1838 in Braunschweig ) was a German violinist, violin teacher and composer .

Life

Ludwig Zinkeisen was born in Hanover in 1779. He received his first violin lessons from his father. From the age of 15 he received music lessons from the town musician Rode in Wolfenbüttel for over seven years . From 1801 to 1803, Zinkeisen was a military musician in a Hanoverian infantry regiment in Lüneburg . In 1803 he went to Göttingen , where he worked as a music teacher and first violinist at the Academic Concerts under music director Johann Nikolaus Forkel . He received music theory lessons from Forkel . In 1819, Zinkeisen accepted a call as a chamber musician at the ducal court in Braunschweig. He carried out this activity until his death.

Zinkeisen died in November 1838 in Braunschweig, where he last lived on Fallersleberstrasse . He left behind his wife and two sons who also became musicians.

Zinkeisen composed a variety of instrumental works, including string quartets and violin concertos , most of which have remained unpublished. The following works, among others, have appeared in print:
