Ludwig Renvers (from 1905 by Renvers ) (born December 17, 1855 in Aachen , † April 17, 1936 in Arnsberg ) was a Prussian civil servant.

Life

Renvers attended grammar school in Aachen and studied law and political science in Berlin , Leipzig and Bonn . In 1877 he passed the court trainee exam. Renvers did military service as a one-year volunteer in 1877/78 and resigned as a lieutenant in the reserve. In 1879 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. and passed the exam for court assessor in 1883. From 1884 Renvers was a government assessor with the government in Trier and in 1888 was entrusted with the administration of the Saarlouis district office . A short time later, he was appointed district administrator. As early as 1889 Renvers switched to the Ministry of Culture in Berlin as an unskilled worker. In 1890 he was appointed lecturing councilor with the title of government councilor. From 1901 Renvers officiated as district president in Arnsberg . In 1903 he was elected governor of the Rhine Province . With this he resigned from the immediate civil service and devoted himself to the work as head of the Rhenish Provincial Association in Düsseldorf. Renvers was ennobled in 1905. In 1921 he retired. In 1922 he was replaced as governor by Johannes Horion . In terms of his political stance, Renvers was conservative and monarchical.

His daughter Stephanie Mackensen von Astfeld (1894–1985) was an active member of the Confessing Church .

Renvers is buried in the Eichholzfriedhof in Arnsberg.
