Luis Caicedo Medina , (born March 19, 1995 in Guayaquil ) is an Ecuadorian football player . He will be used in the position of a central defender . Alternatively, he can also be used as a right defender or defensive midfielder.

Luis Caicedo started his career in the junior division of the Independiente del Valle . Here he also made the leap into the club's professional squad. On November 23, 2010 at the away game against Club Sport Emelec Caicedo enters his first game in Serie A as a professional. In the game he was in the starting line-up and played through to the end. Caicedo scored his first goal for the club in the 2012 season. In the away game against Macará on June 14, 2012, the 17th matchday of the season, he scored in the 35th minute to take the lead 0: 1 (Result: 0: 2) . The player made his debut at international club level in the 2013 Copa Sudamericana . Caicedo played his first game for Cruzeiro on February 5, 2017 against CA Tricordiano in the state championship of Minas Gerais . In the game he was already in the starting line-up. In the Brazilian Série A , Caicedo appeared for the first time on the third matchday of the 2017 season . In the away game against FC Santos , he was substituted on for Dedé after the half-time break. In the 2017 Copa do Brasil , Caicedo was on the pitch seven times for Cruzeiro. The cup was won by the club, but Caicedo was no longer in Cruzeiro's squad at the time. He had lost the trust of coach Mano Menezes after a 3-1 defeat in the derby against Atlético Mineiro .

In July 2017 it was announced that Caicedo was returning to Ecuador on loan. He was loaned to Barcelona Sporting Club for a year and a half . The contract also contained a purchase option. After the purchase option was not drawn, he returned to Brazil in July 2018. However, the player received from Cruzeiro the approval to look for a new club. Caicedo stayed in Mexico. He signed a contract with UANL Tigres , who initially loaned him to CD Veracruz .

In June 2019 Caicedo went back to his homeland. He signed a contract with LDU Quito .

National team

Caicedo played his first game for the Ecuadorian national soccer team in 2016. In qualifying for the 2018 World Cup , he was in the starting eleven on October 6, 2016 in the meeting against the selection of Chile.
