Luis Mejía , full name Luis Mejía Cajar , (born March 16, 1991 in Panama City ) is a Panamanian football player .

Career

society

The 1.90-meter-tall goalkeeper Mejía, called "Manotas", will play for the Panamanian club Tauro FC in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons . In 2007 he made his debut there in the first team, in the same year moved to Centro Atlético Fénix in Uruguay and was a member of the Uruguayan club's youth team until 2009. At the Punta Cup 2009 he was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament. In 2009 he left the Uruguayans, however, initially for an engagement with the B-team of the RCD Mallorca in Spain. In January 2010 he was signed again by Fénix. Mejía completed 13 games in the Primera División for the Uruguayan team in the 2010/11 season . He benefited from an injury to regular goalkeeper Danilo Lerda at the end of August 2010 in the game against Tacuarembó FC , which paved his way to the first team. He made his debut in Uruguay's top division in Parque Central against Nacional Montevideo . In early January 2011, he moved to the French club FC Toulouse on loan . He was not used in Ligue 1 . However, there are eight matches with his participation in the B team of the club. For the 2011/12 season he rejoined the Fénix team. By the end of the 2013/14 season, he had played 57 top division games with the Montevideans since his return (2011/12: 12 games / 0 goals; 2012/13: 27/0; 2013/14: 18/0). In the 2014/15 season he was used 19 times in the top Uruguayan league. At the end of July 2015, he moved within the league as part of a loan deal to Nacional Montevideo. At his new club, the first-season goalkeeper Gustavo Munúa was his coach, who had ended his playing career after the season. In the 2015/16 season he was used once in the league and the Copa Libertadores 2016 . In the 2016 season he was without a competitive game, but won the Uruguayan championship with the team.

National team

Mejía was a member of the Panamanian U-20 squad that took part in the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada and the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia . There he was used in three tournament matches. In the CONCACAF U-20 championship 2011 he was used twice. He also played two internationals for the U-21s at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico in 2010 . He was also used in seven games of the CONCACAF Olympic qualification in the U-23 Panamas in 2012 . On June 7, 2009 / June 8, 2009 he made his debut in the 3-2 defeat in the friendly international match against Jamaica in the senior national team of Panama . By the end of February 2013, he had four official A-internationals in Panama. At the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2011 and 2013 , an international match will be made for him. On March 22, 2013 and March 26, 2013 he ran in the two World Cup qualifying games against Jamaica and Honduras. He also took part in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup , where he played his only tournament in the third place match.
