Luisa Ferida (born March 18, 1914 in Castel San Pietro Terme , † April 30, 1945 in Milan ; civil Luigia Manfrini Frané ) was an Italian film actress .

Life

Ferida began her career as a stage actress in the theater groups of Ruggero Ruggeri and Paola Borboni . She received her first film role in La Freccia d'oro in 1935 . Although she only played a supporting role, the dark-haired beauty made her breakthrough in comedies and costume films, which particularly emphasized her sensual charisma. Further film successes such as La fossa degli angeli (1939) made her one of the most popular female film stars in Italian fascist cinema. During the filming of Alessandro Blasetti's The Cavalier with the Mask (1939) she met and fell in love with the actor Osvaldo Valenti . Both became a couple in real life and also a screen couple in the cinema . Their son Kim died at the age of 4.

Under the director Blasetti, Ferida played Princess Tundra in La corona di ferro (1941) and the role of Fiammetta in La cena delle beffe (1941). Together with Valenti, she played leading roles in Luigi Chiarini's films La bella addormentata (1942) and La locandiera (1944). Her best acting performance is the role of Piera in Gianni Franciolini's Fari nella nebbia (1941), which is seen as the forerunner of Luchino Visconti's obsession (1943) in terms of content and style . In 1942 Luisa Ferida received an award for the best Italian film actress.

Politically, Valenti and Ferida were close to the leader of the fascist movement Benito Mussolini . They also maintained contacts with high-ranking officers of the regime as well as with the special unit Decima Mas and with Pietro Koch , who was significantly involved in the torture of Italian partisans by his extreme, partisan-hostile group, Banda Koch . Whether Ferida and Valenti participated in torture is still controversial today. At the end of 1943 they both moved to northern Italy where the Republic of Salò had established itself. There they appeared for the last time in a film in 1944, Piero Ballerini's Un fatto di cronaca . After the overthrow of Mussolini and his regime, the couple were shot dead on April 30, 1945 in Milan by partisans of the Resistancea during the liberation of the city.

The tragic life of both actors was filmed in 2008 with Monica Bellucci and Luca Zingaretti under the title Wild Blood ( Sanguepazzo ).
