Luca Zingaretti (born November 11, 1961 in Rome ) is an Italian actor who works for the theater as well as for film and television. His brother Nicola Zingaretti was a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2008 and is head of the social democratic party Partito Democratico .

Life

After graduating from high school, Zingaretti attended the drama school Accademia nazionale d'arte drammatica "Silvio D'Amico" in Rome until 1984 . Among his teachers was Andrea Camilleri , whose character Commissario Montalbano he later impersonated in several television productions. He made his theater debut with Luca Ronconi in the early 1980s .

He made his first appearance as a film actor in 1987 in glasses with gold rims by Giuliano Montaldo . He first appeared on television in 1990 in the film Il Giudice Istruttore by Florestano Vancini and Gianluigi Calderone in front of the camera. He became known to a larger audience in 1994 through the film Il branco by Marco Risi . However, he had the greatest success from 1999 with his interpretation of Commissario Montalbano in the television films by Alberto Sironi , which were also broadcast in several European countries and made Luca Zingaretti one of the most sought-after actors in Italy.
