In 2007 Vecheta took part in a world championship in the general class for the first time, but was mostly only able to classify in the back field. His best result was 21st place in the slalom, out of 26 runners. In the 2007 World Cup he was among the top 25 four times, dropping back to 30th overall. In the 2008 World Cup season , he came in 28th overall with four top 20 results. In the 2009 season , Vecheta scored in seven World Cup races.
