geography

In the north the threshold merges into the extensive Congo Basin and in the northeast into the Mitumba Mountains . In the east, the Muchinga Mountains join and the Central African Threshold ; therefore this mountain range is sometimes referred to as part of one threshold or sometimes as part of the other threshold. To the south the terrain slopes down over the valley of the Zambezi to the Okawango Basin . In the southwest and west, the Lundaschwelle merges into the Bié highlands .
