The Protestant Luther Church at Pfarrgasse 7–9 is a listed building in Griesheim in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district . It belongs to the dean's office in Darmstadt-Land in the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau .

History and description

The small hall church was built in the 12th century. In 1518 a vaulted two-bay choir was added. In 1681 the nave was laid down and then rebuilt in an enlarged manner according to plans by the Darmstadt master builder Johann Wilhelm Tannemüller. In 1749 the Gothic choir was demolished and the nave - according to plans by Johann Konrad Lichtenberg - extended by the length of the choir and completed in three-sixths.

On the west side of the church there is a large two-storey tower tower , which is a hexagonal tower above a square storey and covered by a curved hood with a lantern .

The inside of the rectangular hall has a flat roof and a wooden gallery in the western part of the church .

Monument protection

For architectural, architectural and city history reasons, the church is a listed building .
