Lutz Müller (police officer)

Lutz Müller (born November 22, 1960 in Delmenhorst ) is the police chief of the Bremen police .

biography

Müller has been a member of the Bremen police since 1981. After various activities in several areas within the police, he was transferred to the Bremerhaven local police authority as head of the situation center and deputy head of the management staff .

In 1998 he returned to the Bremen police force and took over the management of the personnel department, before becoming head of the institute for further training of the police at the Bremen University of Public Administration in 2000 . From 2003 he worked for the Interior Authority, where he was, among other things, head of department for "Management and Use of the Police Enforcement Service", before successfully applying for the post of Police Vice President at the Bremen Police in 2008.

After the death of the then police chief Eckard Mordhorst , Müller took over provisional management of the authority in 2009 until Holger Münch took over the office on May 1, 2009. Müller then continued to work in the role of Police Vice President and successfully applied for the post of Police President after Münch was appointed State Councilor and Deputy Senator for Interior and Sports in Bremen.

His appointment was on February 24, 2012.

As part of a police reform announced by Interior Senator Ulrich Mäurer , Müller also took over the management of the Public Security Department at the Bremen Senator for Interior from August 15, 2016 , which he heads in personal union with the Police Presidency.

In 2014, Müller received the Senator Lothar Danner Medal .
