Luzius Theiler (born September 1, 1940 in Königsberg , East Prussia , German Reich ) is a Swiss politician ( LdU , later GPB-DA / GaP ), former member of the Bern City Council and former Grand Councilor .

Life

Theiler is a sociologist (lic. Rer. Pol.) And real estate specialist and was the manager of the Swiss House Association .

He belonged to the state ring of the independents. As its representative, he had been on the Bern City Council since 1967 . In 1968 he criticized the city council, when discussing the administrative report of the police department, that the state security "only protects certain people and the existing order is defended against unpleasant criticism". In 1976, together with Daniele Jenni , he founded the Democratic Alternative Bern (today the Green Alternative Party ), because they had to join the POCH because of v. a. personal differences with their exponents at the time seemed impossible. In the early 1980s, Theiler, as the Grand Councilor of the Canton of Bern, played a key role in uncovering the Bern financial affair . In 1993 he was a founding member of the European Federation of Green Parties .

Theiler was a member of the Bern City Council from 1967 to 1978 and from 1989 to 1999. On January 17, 2008, after the death of Daniele Jenni, he moved up again to the city council, which he then belonged to until July 2020.

Theiler lives in Bern.
