Lydia Kathleen Vandenbergh (born January 2, 1984 in Rochester , New York ) is an American football player .

Career

After studying at Clemson University , Vandenbergh began her professional career with the Charlotte Lady Eagles , as well as the Brazilian clubs FC Santos and ACE Kurdana / Cotia , before moving to Australia for Sydney FC in 2007 .

For the 2009 season Vandenbergh was approved by the WPS - Franchise Saint Louis Athletica contracted, but before the season starts to the league rivals Chicago Red Stars released. There she played in 2009 and 2010 , in between she made a detour for several months to the Australian W-League participant Central Coast Mariners . As a result, Vandenbergh moved again to the Australian W-League for Sydney FC and spent a season there before running up for WPS participant magicJack in the 2011 season.

She spent 2012 at the Danish first division club Fortuna Hjørring , where her compatriots Casey Ramirez and Tiffany Weimer were also under contract during this period . In March 2013 Vandenbergh was signed as a so-called Discovery Player of the newly founded NWSL franchise of the Red Stars and made her league debut on April 14, 2013 against Seattle Reign FC . In May 2014 she moved to the W-League participant Carolina Elite Cobras .
