Lynn Hilary

Lynn Hilary (born April 21, 1982 , Dublin , Ireland ) is an Irish singer , guitarist and composer . She was a member of the Celtic Woman group .

Career

Hilary graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) with a Bachelor of Music performance degree in 2005. At first she sang classical music, but then switched to Celtic music to take advantage of her natural voice. She named Michael Jackson , Joni Mitchell and Karen Carpenter as singers influencing her music .

Career

Hilary became a member of the Irish Choir Anúna in 2000 . She toured the United States, Morocco, the Netherlands and Finland with the group. She sang in the choir and as a soloist on the five albums Invocation (2001), Winter Songs (2001), Behind the Closed Eye (2002), Sensation (2006) and Illumination (2012). She also sang the lead vocal in Cloudsong of Riverdance at the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics in 2003 in Croke Park, Dublin. Hilary toured the US in 2006 with Riverdance as a soloist. In 2008 she released her solo album Take Me With You .

Celtic woman

In 2007 Méav Ní Mhaolchatha announced that she was leaving the group to focus on her solo career. Hilary then joined the group and started the A New Journey tour on October 10, 2007 in Estero , Florida . She was the first new member since it was founded in 2004.

Lynn sang on the albums The Greatest Journey , Songs from the Heart , Lullaby , and the Japanese version of Believe . It can only be seen on a PBS special / DVD, Celtic Woman: Songs from the Heart, which was recorded at Powerscourt House and Gardens in the summer of 2009. She appeared on the three tours A New Journey , Isle of Hope , and Songs from the Heart .

After touring Australia in November 2010, Hilary announced that she was leaving Celtic Woman and returning to Ireland. Lisa Lambe took her place .

After Celtic Woman

In September 2011 Hilary became a member of the Irish singing trio Bluebells, in which the two Anúna members Nicola Lewis and Rebecca Winckworth also sing. She also sang again with Anúna on the soundtrack for Diablo III and as a soloist on the 2012 CD Illumination . According to a trailer released in 2012, Hilary is a soloist on the new show The Roots of Ireland . She is now a member of The Babylon Sisters , which also includes Lisa Nolan and former Anúna singer Rebecca Winckworth. In 2013 she released her second solo album since 2009 with Saturn Return .
