The Exyte AG (proper spelling: exyte AG and z formerly T.. M + W Group ) is a global building - and plant engineering company with headquarters in Stuttgart . The core business of the Exyte Group comprises solutions for the semiconductor , life sciences and chemical industries as well as for data centers . The company is considered a pioneer in the field of clean room technology .

history

The company was founded in 1912 by Karl Meissner and Paul Wurst. The first business area was the manufacture of a patented system for the extraction of chips and wood flour in woodworking. In the first 50 years of existence, M eissner + W urst mainly produced extraction systems , fans and other ventilation equipment .

From the 1960s, Meissner + Wurst began as a pioneer with the development of clean room technology. In the following 50 years, sales increased significantly as a result of global growth, initially in the pharmaceuticals and later also in the semiconductor and electronics industries , so that clean room technology soon replaced traditional ventilation technology as the most important business area.

Starting in the 1990s in particular, the company expanded worldwide by expanding its business areas, establishing new branches and acquiring companies. Meissner + Wurst now planned and built complete laboratory and production systems for the electronics and photovoltaic industry , but also for the optics , chemical and pharmaceutical industries , for the medical , bio , nano and other high-tech industries .

Jenoptik took over the company in October 1994 and merged it with Zander Klimatechnik AG from Nuremberg in August 1998 to form M + W Zander . The building technology division was separated from the group of companies in 2004 under the name M + W Zander Gebäudetechnik GmbH as part of a management buyout and renamed caverion GmbH in February 2007 . In 2005 the Swiss financial investor Springwater Capital took over the company. In 2008 the area was facilities management at the close of Bilfinger Group associated HSG given. Since then, the company has only operated as the M + W Group , or M + W for short . The M + W Group has been wholly owned by the Austrian holding company Stumpf Group since 2009 .

Renaming and renaming

The Exyte Group was created in 2018 through a spin-off from the M + W Group GmbH, which was founded in Stuttgart in 1912. The main company is Exyte AG. Parts of the business activities remained in the M + W Group. The semiconductor business as well as the business for the life sciences and chemical industry and for data centers have been bundled in Exyte AG.

In September 2018, the company announced that a larger minority stake would be sold through an IPO. This IPO was postponed in October of the same year due to unfavorable market conditions.

In 2018, the company's sales increased by 48% to € 3.5 billion.
