The student Katrin has two problems to master in her life: She has no boyfriend and has been terrified of water since a traumatic childhood experience. When her best friend Babsi wants to leave for a fortnightly cruise with her suitor, the latter ends the relationship by phone because he does not want to leave his wife. But since Babsi is already on the ship and only Katrin takes notice of the message on the answering machine - Babsi's cell phone was broken down at home - she decides to tell her friend personally. However, when she tries to get on board, she faints and only comes to when the luxury liner has already cast off with her on board. She will have to face her great fear in the next few weeks. Because Babsi's boyfriend's absence doesn't cover the travel expenses either, the two of them have to work, Babsi as a bartender, Katrin as a maid. During the pre-employment check-up, Katrin meets ship's doctor Markus, whom she had already made acquaintance with in the immediate past and who mistakenly kissed him. A relationship develops true to the motto "What loves one another teases". Babsi, meanwhile, hooks up with Nick, the ship's executive manager, but wants to end the affair when she discovers his wedding ring and fears that the events will repeat itself. When it turns out that her ex is pregnant, she is on the nerves and takes an increased dose of sleeping pills. Meanwhile, Katrin is not leading a carefree existence either. Markus' long-term lover Diana has come on board and does not want to give up in the fight for his favor. In the meantime, Babsi is found and saved by Nick. He later confesses to her that he only wears the wedding ring in order to be able to more easily comply with the regulations on board, not to enter into love affairs with passengers or crew members. One evening between Katrin and Markus' lover there is a kind of verbal showdown in which Katrin can finally conquer his heart. Some time later - the voyage is a long way back - Katrin learns that the engagement to Markus' girlfriend is now going to take place. When she storms the festivities, however, she realizes that she has caught a new lover in the meantime and is about to get engaged. Markus is also there and has lost none of his affection for Katrin. The happy ending is perfect.
Trivia
The feature film was shot on the AIDAcara in 2004 , making it the first television film to be made on a ship belonging to the AIDA Cruises shipping company .
