Marathon runners in Pauillac

The Médoc Marathon (French: Marathon du Médoc , also Marathon des Châteaux du Médoc ) is a marathon in Pauillac that has been held every September since 1985. It is organized by the Association pour le Marathon des Chateaux du Médoc (AMCM).

Although the Médoc marathon is definitely competitive, most of the participants appreciate the special atmosphere of the event. He is best known for having wine tastings at the supply stalls. Local specialties such as cheese, sausage, oysters, etc. are served at many stations. In addition, numerous participants wear unusual costumes during the run. The run takes place three weeks before the grape harvest every year. The organizer names la santé (health), le sport (sport), la convivialité (hospitality) and la fête (celebration) as the four cornerstones of the Médoc marathon. During the extended weekend, many events take place around Pauillac, making the run a festival.

Despite the special character of the marathon, the finish time is limited to 6:30 hours, similar to other running events. The 2020 event will be postponed to September 2021.
