The coin bioindustry GmbH is an owner-managed conglomerate with headquarters in Austria and is self-reported in the production of waste-derived biodiesel leader in Europe.

The company also produces pharmaceutical glycerine , technical glycerine and potassium sulfate for the European market. Another sub-area of ​​the group is the disposal and recycling of residues and waste. The head office is in Sinabelkirchen , Styria , Austria . The company has other locations in Vienna , Gaishorn am See and Langenlois . The company is managed by Gregor Reindl and the brothers Ewald-Marco Münzer and Michael Münzer.

The company was founded in 1991 by the father of the current owner, Ewald Münzer sen. (born 1944 in Maria Lankowitz - died 2019 in Weiz, also folk musician with the Original Ligister Trio) and today includes the disposal of liquid and solid waste, the collection and recycling of used cooking oil for biodiesel production as well as the technical cleaning of industrial plants. The company sees itself as a pioneer in the cascading use of residues and further processing into new energy. A primary goal of the company is decarbonisation and sustainable management of the available resources . In the ranking of the largest companies in Styria published in 2016, the company took 40th place, as determined by Top of Styria. The management was voted 2nd in the production category by an independent jury of 300 participants. In 2017, the company was ranked 154th among Austria's best companies, as surveyed by Industrie Magazin. In the ranking of the TOP 100 companies in Styria 2017, the company achieved 28th place in the industry category and 4th place in the top 10 companies in the turnover per employee category, which was recorded by the business magazine Top of Styria. In June 2018, the company reached 342nd place among the largest TOP 500 companies in Austria and 2nd place in the chemical sector. In the TOP LEADER yearbook of the Austrian economy - 2020 edition, the company was only ranked 9th among the largest and most successful chemical groups in Austria in 2019 by an Austrian, independent and non-partisan print and online medium. In June 2020 the company reached the 384th place of the TOP 500 Austria’s largest companies, which are thanks to trend. The business magazine was raised.

The headquarters of the group is based in Sinabelkirchen, where the disposal and industrial cleaning department is also located.

At the Vienna site there is a biodiesel production plant with an annual capacity of 140,000 tons. Pharmaceutical glycerine and potassium sulfate are also produced on this site . In addition, there is a fat smelter at this location for processing collected used cooking fats.

At the Gaishorn am See site there is a biodiesel production plant with an annual capacity of 66,000 tons. Technical glycerine and potassium sulfate are also produced at this location .

At the Langenlois site there is a cleaning and processing plant for used cooking oil from private household collections.

The two locations of Muenzer Bharat Private Limited are located in Navi Mumbai ( India ) . The headquarters of Muenzer Bharat Private Limited is located in Nerul, Navi Mumbai - 400706 India. The biodiesel production facility with an annual capacity of 3,000 tons is located in Nerul MIDC, Navi Mumbai - 400706 Maharashtra, India.

history

The company was founded in 1991 by Ewald Münzer Senior. Two years later it became Ewald Münzer GmbH with a focus on the disposal of liquid waste. In 1999, Biodiesel Kärnten GmbH was co-founded and in the same year entered the field of production of waste-based biofuels. Four years later, MM Kanal-Rohr-Sanierung GmbH was founded. In 2004 BioDiesel Vienna GmbH was founded as part of the Münzer group and Austria's largest biodiesel production plant was built in the Vienna oil port in Lobau. The biodiesel plant in the Vienna oil port Lobau was put into operation in 2006. In 2009, all subsidiaries were merged into a joint company, Münzer Bioindustrie GmbH. In 2010 the company headquarters of Münzer Bioindustrie GmbH was established in Sinabelkirchen / Styria. The biodiesel production plant in the Styrian Paltental , Gaishorn am See was taken over in 2014. A processing plant for cable scrap for the recycling of (semi) precious metals such as u. a. Copper at the Sinabelkirchen location was built in 2015. In 2016, the collection system was taken over from Ölwert GmbH based in Langenlois, as well as the takeover of Ölwert Deutschland GmbH. In the same year, the company was expanded to include the fresh oil bottling and sales of fresh oils to large and system restaurants.

On September 6, 2016, the 100% subsidiary Muenzer Bharat Private Limited was founded in the metropolis of Mumbai , with over 20 million people . In 2017, the "National Used Cooking Oil Collection for India ™" was launched in Maharashtra . The construction of the biodiesel production plant and a fat processing plant began in 2018. The opening and commissioning of the biodiesel production plant in Navi Mumbai took place in February 2019. An Indian team on site is working on implementing Münzer's "Energy from Waste" vision in India .

On April 1, 2020 Münzer Bioindustrie GmbH took over Rotie UCO Trade BV based in Amsterdam / Holland. As a result of the takeover, the company was fully integrated into Münzer Bioindustrie GmbH and will operate under the name Münzer Trading BV in the future.
