The track bundles of the S-Bahn and long-distance train from Hamburg Central Station to Lübeck and Berlin on the one hand and to Harburg , Hanover , Bremen on the other hand border the quarter on two sides. The former Hamburg Klosterthor train station was located within and today Hamburg Central Station was a few hundred meters north of the district.

On the northern edge, the complex of the former Hühnerposten railway post office , which has housed the central library of the Hamburg public library since 2004, cannot be overlooked . The school building of the former school for the hearing impaired, which was built around 1884 and was one of the first schools for the hard of hearing in Germany, is located between Münzstraße and Schultzweg . After they moved to the Elbschule in Othmarschen in 2013, the building is occupied as of 2016 and a collective center has been opened in it. The Rosenallee youth workshop houses, among other things, a carpentry shop, a printing shop and a kitchen. The youth workshop is closed after several years of successful work due to savings.

The Repsold tunnel in the railway embankment is a preliminary construction work for the Hamburg subway from the time of the new construction of the Hamburg main station from 1900 to 1906. When the construction of the subway branch line to Rothenburgsort began in 1912 , the railway viaduct was widened from six to ten tracks became necessary. The remaining space would not have been enough for a ramp to cross Spaldingstrasse. For example, embankments were built on both sides of the viaduct and the underground line was laid on a bridge over the railway tracks. When the viaduct was renovated in the 1970s, access to this tunnel had to be created. On this occasion, the embankments were filled with an entrance; the tunnel has since been accessible to pedestrians to the Münzviertel.

The " Hochbahn " at that time crossed Norderstraße and Spaldingstraße and ran parallel to the railway tracks to the south from the "Spaldingstraße" station bordering the Münzviertel. It was finished in 1915 and destroyed in World War II.
