The British Formula 4 Championship , also known as MSA Formula (officially MSA Formula certified by FIA powered by Ford EcoBoost ) is an automobile racing series after the FIA - Formula 4 -Reglement in the UK . The British Formula 4 Championship was held for the first time in 2015 .
The British Formula 4 Championship is organized by the Motor Sports Association (MSA).
The British Formula 4 championship of the MSA is not to be confused with the BRDC Formula 4 championship of the BRDC , which is not certified by the FIA. Since the naming rights for the use of the term Formula 4 in the United Kingdom lie with the BRDC, the FIA-certified British Formula 4 Championship is marketed under the name MSA Formula and does not use the Formula 4 term in its own publications.
history
After the FIA decided to introduce Formula 4 regulations in 2013, the Motor Sports Association (MSA) decided to discontinue British Formula Ford in favor of an FIA Formula 4 championship. Since the MSA had no naming rights for the term Formula 4 , MSA Formula was chosen as the name . The British Formula 4 Championship was held for the first time in 2015 . Like the British Formula Ford, the British Formula 4 Championship is also part of the ToCA Tour event package , which includes the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
Course of the race weekend
In addition to training and qualifying, there are three races per weekend.
vehicle
In the British Formula 4 championship, the Mygale Formula 4 chassis is used with a Ford 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine. The tires are from Hankook . This means that the same engine-chassis combination is used as the previous series, but a different tire manufacturer instead of Dunlop .
particularities
In addition to the points system envisaged by the FIA, all drivers outside the top 10 that are evaluated receive a point.
Television broadcast
The British Formula 4 Championship is broadcast in the United Kingdom on ITV4 .
