Mabel Bramwell Parton (born July 22, 1881 in London as Mabel Squire , † August 12, 1962 in the county of Surrey ) was an English tennis player.
Life
Parton was born in London on July 22, 1881. In 1906 she married the lawyer and tennis player Ernest George Parton . From that year she took part in the Wimbledon Championships . In singles, she reached the semi-finals there in 1912 , in which she was defeated by Dora Boothby in two sets. At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 Parton won the bronze medal in individual.
After the First World War , Parton was able to move into the semifinals of Wimbledon again in 1920 , but had to admit defeat to Elizabeth Ryan that year . In 1924 she separated from Ernest Parton and married Theodore Mavrogordato , with whom she had already reached the semi-finals in the mixed competition at the Wimbledon Championships in 1913 .
Parton died in Surrey in 1962 at the age of 81 .
