history

Traces point to a settlement already by the Romans . The current place was probably created in the course of the repopulation after the Reconquista . It was a parish of the Fonte Arcada district . Since its dissolution in 1855 , Macieira has been a municipality in the Sernancelhe district.

Attractions

The town's architectural monuments include historical fountains, dovecotes, school buildings, various sacred buildings , and the Baroque mansion Solar em Macieira , built in the 18th century, with its chapel Capela de São Domingos .
