Maciej Ganczar

Maciej Ganczar (born January 19, 1976 in Łódź ) is a Polish literary scholar , Germanist , literary translator and author of textbooks for foreign and technical languages.

Life

Maciej Ganczar was born in 1976 in Łódź, Poland, and spent his childhood and youth in Piotrków Trybunalski . He studied German at the Pedagogical University in Częstochowa , at the University of Stettin and finally at the Silesian University in Katowice , where he received his doctorate in 2007.

Since 2001 he has taught at several universities, including the Warsaw University , the Medical Academy in Warsaw (today: Warsaw Medical University ) and the Università del Salento in Lecce ( Italy ). Today he is head of the Chair of Modern Languages ​​and Cultures at the Academy of Finance and Economics “Vistula” in Warsaw, as well as a reviewer of textbooks at the Polish Ministry of Education.

Ganczar has worked as an editor of German-language dramas and as a literary translator for several years . He has translated the dramas by Marc Becker , Wilhelm Genazino , Kerstin Specht , Lukas Holliger , Wolfgang Sréter , Andrea M. Schenkel , Max Frisch , Rolf Hochhuth , Ödön von Horváth , Arthur Schnitzler and Hermann Broch into Polish.

Since 2011 he has been a member of the Hermann Broch International Working Group in Washington, DC In the same year he was elected chairman of the Association of Polish Literary Translators. In 2016 he was awarded the medal of the Commission for National Education .
