The Madererkamm is one of the longest parts of the Verwall Group and extends largely from east to west (with foothills) to the political communities in the state of Vorarlberg ( Austria ) Gaschurn , St. Gallenkirch and Silbertal . The Hochjochstock forms a rather solitary foothill of the Madererkamm and connects to it. The Madererkamm forms the edge of the Valschavieltals valley in the north , with the Madererspitze ( 2769  m above sea level , the Valschavielkamm with the Tavamunter Augstenberg  2489  m above sea level in the south ).

The Madererkamm is touched by the Wormser Weg , which leads from the Heilbronner Hütte ( 2308  m above sea level ) to the Wormser hut ( 2305  m above sea level ).

Name derivation

The ridge shares its name with its highest peak, the Madererspitze, as well as the north of it lies Maderertal and the west lying Maderertäli . Anton von Ruthner in “ From Tyrol. Mountain and Glacier Travel in the Austrian High Alps ”(1869), p. 432, mentions that the local population calls the Maderer“ after the Romanic name of the Madriser ”.

hike

Most of the peaks of the Madererkamm can be reached on foot in about four to six hours from the valley (Gaschurn / Gortipohl / Silbertal / St. Gallenkirch). The individual peaks are sometimes relatively far apart. Good physical condition and surefootedness are required.
