Madibeng ( English Madibeng Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Bojanala Platinum district in the South African province of Northwest . The seat of the parish is in Brits .

The community is named after the Setswana term for “place of water” or “place of dams”.

The local government is run by the African National Congress . Mayor is Jostina Mmantina Mothibe.

In 2011 the community had 477,381 inhabitants. 89.3% of them were black, 9.8% white, 0.9% colored and 0.5% Indian or Asian.

The first language was 42.8% Setswana, 10.8% Xitsonga , 8.8 % Afrikaans, 7.8% Sepedi , 6.2% Sesotho , 4.7% isiZulu , 4.5% isiXhosa , 3.5% English, 2.3% isiNdebele , 1.7% Tshivenda and 0.9% Siswati .
