Mafube ( English Mafube Local Municipality ) is a local community ( local municipality ) in the district Fezile Dabi , Province Free State in South Africa . The seat of the municipal administration is in Frankfort .

The name is a Sesothowort for the dawning of the new day. It is meant to symbolize the dawn of a new era for the church.

In 2011 the community had 57,876 inhabitants. Of these, 91.9% were black, 7% white and 0.6% colored . The population for 2016 is given as 57,574.

The first language was 63.8% Sesotho, 20.6% isiZulu , 8.2% Afrikaans, 1.7% isiXhosa and 1.3% English.
