Magareng ( English Magareng Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Frances Baard district of the North Cape province of South Africa . The local government is based in Warrenton . Mayor is Bongile Mhaleni.

The community name is a Setswana word meaning "in the middle", it refers to the geographical location.

In 2011 the community had 24,204 inhabitants. Of these, 80% were black, 13.9% colored and 5.1% white. 67.1 % of the speakers spoke Setswana , 21.2% Afrikaans, 3.6% IsiXhosa , 2.2% Sesotho and 1.9% English.
