Dikgatlong ( English Dikgatlong Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Frances Baard district of the North Cape province of South Africa . The local government office is in Barkly West . Mayoress is Dorothy Mbizeni.

Dikgatlong is Setswana and stands for 'confluence'. The name refers to the two rivers Harts and Vaal near Delportshoop . The area was named that way back in the 18th century.

In 2011 the community had 46,841 inhabitants . Of these, 58% were black, 28% colored , 4% white and 9% other. 53% of the speakers spoke Setswana , 39% Afrikaans and 8% other languages.
