Magda Korsinsky

Magda Korsinsky (* 1981 in Prague ) is a choreographer , artist and lecturer of Czech - Eritrean origin.

Life

Korsinsky studied fine arts from 2002 to 2010 at the Berlin University of the Arts , École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague . In addition, she passed the 1st state examination in the fine arts teaching profession .

With the help of the DAAD - postgraduate scholarship from 2009 to 2010 she studied dance and choreography as a guest at the Faculty of Music and Dance of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague . Since graduating as a master class student in summer 2007, she has been working as a freelance artist and has attended numerous exhibitions. In the summer of 2012, she also completed a choreography degree at the Inter-University Center for Dance Berlin .

Since 2007 Magda Korsinsky has been the supervisor and lecturer of the screen printing workshop in the Kunstquartier Bethanien Berlin. For her own screen printing work, she received the 2014 Screening Award from the Friends' Association for Fine Artists in the Hildesheim Region

As a performer she worked with Andrea Crews and Nevin Aladag, among others . Her first performance VRSTVY ​​with 9 performers and a musician was shown in 2009 in the AVU gallery, Prague. The play Lena is not there was premiered in November 2011 in the Uferstudios and u. a. shown at the dance days 2012 in the Sophiensaele . In November 2019, her performance Patterns premiered at Ballhaus Naunynstraße in Berlin . Together with ten black women, she examines “everyday behavior patterns, gestural routines, repetitions of the self”. She understands the performance as an “archive of self-determined gestures, a new composition of the different actions of black women”.

Korsinsky has been giving socio-cultural workshops since 2013. For the interdisciplinary and multi-part project STRICKEN , Korsinsky received project funding from the Berlin Senate, the Rudolf Augstein Foundation and the Capital Cultural Fund . The project is based on interviews with Afro-German women whose white grandmothers lived during the Nazi era .
