The Evangelical-Lutheran Magdalenenkirche, which is a listed building, is in Zella-Mehlis , a small town in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia . The parish Zella-Mehlis is part of the parish area Zella-Mehlis / Oberhof in the parish of Meiningen the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The lower floors of the choir tower were built at the beginning of the 13th century, the upper floors in 1495. After the nave was demolished, a new one was added to the east at an acute angle from 1731 to 1741. In 1930 the interior was redesigned.

The nave has two-storey galleries and is covered with a wooden mirror vault. The ceiling painting from 1930 shows the heavenly hosts , the risen Christ and the Trinity . The stained glass windows are also from 1930.

The pulpit with the sound cover from the construction period stands on the gallery above the sacristy . In 1930 an altarpiece by Erich Klahn , the baptismal font and the carved figures of Peter and Johannes were created . The organ front was designed in 1743, the present organ was built in 1885. The ground floor of the tower has a wall painting from the 1620s and is covered with a ribbed vault.

On the north wall there is a late Gothic sacrament house , on the sides Christ and John are painted.
