The Magdeburg is a corvette of the German Navy of the type K130 , also Braunschweig class. She is the second unit of this class and the fourth ship named Magdeburg in a German Navy. history

The Magdeburg was laid on May 19, 2005 at the Lürssen shipyard in Bremen , the christening will take place on September 6, 2006. The commissioning of the ship, which is subordinate to the 1st Corvette Squadron in Rostock - Hohe Düne , took place on September 22, 2008 at the Warnemünde naval base carried out.

After a long time in the shipyard due to various problems (see under: Braunschweig class - defects and retrofits ) the Magdeburg undertook sea trials again in autumn 2010. It was found off the coast of Norway in February 2011 that mold and condensation had formed in the ship. This was because mistakes were made in the construction of the air conditioning system . This meant that the other four corvettes also had to be revised again.

In the late summer of 2011, Magdeburg took part in a training mission for the first time, the international sea maneuver "DANEX / NOCO" in the area of the western and southern Baltic Sea accesses .
