Maggie Rizer

Maggie Rizer (* 9. January 1978 as Margaret Mary Rizer in Watertown, New York ) is an American supermodel , actress and AIDS -Aktivistin.

life and career

She grew up with three siblings in Watertown in the north of the US state of New York. She began working as a model at 17 after her mother sent pictures to a New York modeling agency. In 1997 she had her international breakthrough when Steven Meisel discovered her and photographed her for Italian VOGUE.

After Steven Meisel's discovery, Rizer was considered one of the few supermodels for a long time. Some magazines Rizer worked for are Vogue , Harper's Bazaar , Elle, Marie Claire, and Cosmopolitan . She has had ad campaigns for brands like Prada , Calvin Klein , Oscar de la Renta , Max Mara , Chanel , Fendi , Tommy Hilfiger and Versace .

When she learned in 2003 that her stepfather, an insurance salesman who was responsible for her financial planning, had lost almost all of her fortune gambling and had not paid any taxes on her income, she withdrew from the public for several years. In 2008 she was back in front of the camera as a model and jury member for a styling show.

Rizer was fourteen when her publicly homosexual father died of complications from AIDS . Since then, she has endeavored to provide general education about HIV .

She is married and has two sons.
