Magnus Svensson (born March 1, 1963 in Tranås ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for the Florida Panthers from the National Hockey League from 1980 to 2002 .

Career

Magnus Svensson began his career as a hockey player at Tranås AIF , for which he was active until 1983. Then the defender received a contract with Leksands IF , for which he ran up in the Elitserien over the next seven years . During this period he was also selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1987 in the twelfth round as a total of 250th player by the Calgary Flames , for which he never played. Instead, he ran in the 1990/91 season for HC Lugano in the Swiss National League A in. He then returned to Leksands for three more years before the 1994 Olympic champion signed with HC Davos in the NLA. In parallel, the Swede joined the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League in the 1994/95 season after the Calgary Flames had transferred the rights to the player to Florida.

After Svensson scored eleven scorer points for the Panthers in the NHL in 27 games in the 1995/96 season , he returned one more time to Leksands. There he played until the end of his career in 2002, with the exception of the 1999/2000 season, in which he was active in Switzerland with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers .

International

For Sweden Svensson took part in the World Championships in 1987 , 1990 , 1994 and 1997 and the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer .
