Mahmud Shah Durrani

Mahmud Shah Durrani († 1829 ) was a Pashtun king who ruled over the Durrani Empire in what is now Afghanistan from 1801 to 1803 and again from 1809 to 1818 .

Mahmud Shah was the son of Timur Shah and half-brother of his predecessor, Zaman Shah . On July 25, 1801, Zaman Shah was deposed and Mahmud Shah as his successor. He had an eventful career: in 1803 he was deposed and one of his half-brothers, Shah Shuja , succeeded him in office. In 1809 Mahmud Shah replaced him again. His reign ended in 1818, he died in 1829.
