Abdul Rahim Hatef
Abdul Rahim Hatef ( Persian عبدالرحيم هاتف, DMG ʿAbdurraḥīm Hātef ; * July 7, 1925 in Kandahar ; † August 19, 2013 ) was an Afghan politician .
Hatef served as Vice President of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan under President Mohammed Najibullah . He was non-party and was partially critical of the VDPA regime, but supported it. Two weeks before the mujahideen conquered Kabul , he became provisional president of Afghanistan following the resignation of Najibullah on April 18, 1992. On April 28, the mujahideen captured Kabul, overthrew the government and proclaimed the Islamic State of Afghanistan . Sibghatullah Modschaddedi became the new president .
