Amphoe Chum Saeng ( Thai : อำเภอ ชุมแสง ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in Nakhon Sawan Province . Nakhon Sawan Province is located in the southern part of the northern region of Thailand .
geography
Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Pho Thale and Bang Mun Nak the province of Phichit and Amphoe Nong Bua , Tha Tako , Mueang Nakhon Sawan and Kao Liao of Nakhon Sawan.
The Mae Nam Yom River flows into the Mae Nam Nan in Amphoe Chum Saeng . On the southern edge of the district is the Bueng Boraphet swamp , the largest south-water wetland in Thailand.
history
The area of what is now Chum Saeng County was initially set up by the government as Tambon Koei Chai towards the end of the 19th century , by separating some parts of the Mueang District from Nakhon Sawan. In 1903 the Ministry of the Interior upgraded the tambon to Amphoe Phan Lan , named after the central tambon. However, the name was renamed back to Koei Chai a few years later. When the administration building was relocated to the western bank of the Mae Nam Nan in 1915, the district got its current name: Amphoe Chum Saeng .
etymology
The name Chum Saeng in Thai can be the name of a plant whose components can be used for medicinal purposes: Xanthophyllum glaucum (Xantophyllaceae) . Another meaning may come from Khlang Saeng ( คลัง แสง - weapons storage ), as there was an arms storage in this area during the reign of King Taksin .
