Mae Wong ( Thai : อำเภอ แม่ วงก์ ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the western part of Nakhon Sawan Province . Nakhon Sawan Province is located in the southern part of the northern region of Thailand .

geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Pang Sila Thong and Khanu Woralaksaburi of Kamphaeng Phet province , the Amphoe Lat Yao , Chum Ta Bong and Mae Poen of Nakhon Sawan and Amphoe Umphang of Tak Province .

Mae Wong is also the name of a river in Mae Wong National Park .

history

The county was initially set up as a “branch county” ( King Amphoe ) on April 1, 1992 by separating the six tambon Mae Wong, Mae Le, Wang San, Khao Chon Kan, Pang Sawan and Huai Nam Hom from Lat Yao County . On December 1, 1994, Huai Nam Hom was reassigned back to Lat Yai. On October 11, 1997, Mae Wong County received full Amphoe status.
