Maier Kohn
Maier Kohn , also Meir Kohn (born April 9, 1802 in Schwabach , † October 9, 1875 in Munich ) was a German chasan , singer (baritone), musicologist and teacher.
Life
Maier Kohn received thorough musical training from the Munich court organist Kaspar Ett. From 1832 he directed the synagogue choir of the synagogue on Westenriederstrasse , which he founded, and was employed there as the parish cantor in 1843. He was the driving force behind the creation and publication of the Munich Chants of 1839, the first modern collection of synagogue chants .
