Maik Dietz is a former German biathlete .
Maik Dietz was active for the ASK Vorwärts Oberhof . He had his first successes as a junior athlete. In Antholz , he won the relay race title at the 1983 Biathlon Junior World Championships with Jürgen Wirth and André Sehmisch . Two years later he repeated this success with Thomas Pawliczek and Jens Steinigen in Egg am Etzel . He also won the individual silver medal behind Steinigen.
At GDR championships in 1985 , 1986 and 1988 Dietz won the runner-up with the relay, his partners were Holger Wick , Gerald Rauch, Jürgen Wirth , Matthias Jacob and Falk Schmidt . In the sprint races he missed a medal in fourth place in 1985 and 1986, and in 1988 he was fifth. Due to the great competition in the GDR, he was denied further international assignments, a national title prevented the overpowering biathletes of SG Dynamo Zinnwald at the time . Today Dietz runs a wood processing company near Brotterode .
