Mait Toom (born May 7, 1990 in Põlva ) is an Estonian football goalkeeper . He is under contract with Paide Linnameeskond in the Meistriliiga .

Club career

Mait Toom was born in Põlva and played for local JK Tammeka Tartu early in his career . Up to the age of 18 he played in the youth of the club. In 2008 Toom came in the second team for the first time to use minutes in the senior area. Later in the season , the goalkeeper made his debut in the Meistriliiga against JK Tallinna Kalev . In the 2009 season he was initially a regular goalkeeper, but lost this place to the German Moritz Stehling after a 6-1 defeat against Levadia Tallinn . In the following 2010 season , Sebastian Tiszai , another German goalkeeper, took over the position of Stehling, who had left the club for Belgium. After Matchday 4, Tammeka's coach Marko Kristal relied on Mait Toom after Tiszai conceded four goals in the game against JK Kalev Sillamäe . In the 2011 season Toom acted as a regular goalkeeper. At the beginning of the 2012 season he moved to record champions Flora Tallinn . After Stanislav Pedõk, he is only used as a substitute at the capital club , so he usually takes a seat on the bench or plays in the Esiliiga for the second substitute.

National team

Toom has played for Estonia since the U-19s, for whom he made his debut against Denmark in April 2008. Since 2011 he has been playing in the U-21s under the German coach Frank Bernhardt .
