Malapatan is east of Sarangani Bay . The municipality borders the province of Davao del Sur to the east, Alabel to the north and Glan to the south .

economy
Malapatan's economy is largely based on agriculture and, in particular, on copra extraction . Animal husbandry is the second most important source of income, especially cattle husbandry. Other agricultural products include coconuts , corn , sugar cane , bananas , pineapples , mangoes , pork , chicken eggs , beef, and fish.
Economic growth has accelerated over the past decade due to global communication capabilities due to the completion of a modern highway , greatly improving trade and transportation opportunities.
