geography
The municipality of Maasim borders Kiamba in the west , Sarangani Bay in the east , South Cotabato province in the north and the Celebes Sea in the south .
The Philippine tarsier ( Tarsius syrichta ) lives in the rainforests and mountain areas of Maasim .

Maasim is politically divided into 16 barangays .

Population and culture
The majority of the inhabitants are of Cebuan origin . The indigenous people of the T'boli live in the mountainous areas of Maasim .
economy
Maasim's economy is largely based on agriculture, with copra production being of great importance . Animal husbandry is the second largest source of income, especially cattle farming. Further agricultural products are coconuts , corn , sugar cane , bananas , pineapples , mangoes , pork , chicken eggs , beef and fish .
Economic growth has accelerated significantly over the past decade, due to global communication technologies and the completion of a modern highway , which has greatly improved trade and transport opportunities.
