The Malhamhorn ( 3186 m above sea level ) is a mountain peak of the Maurerkamm in the Venediger group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located in the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger . The Malhamhorn belongs to the group of the Malhamspitzen , neighboring peaks are the southernmost Malhamspitze in the north, the Steingrubenkogel in the southwest and the Quirl in the southeast.
location
The Malhamhorn is a horn-like rock structure above the Malhamscharte south of the Malhamspitzen in the southern Maurerkamm. It is located northeast of the Steingrubenkogel ( 3228 m above sea level ), whereby the Malhamhorn is separated from its northeast ridge by the Malhamscharte ( 3096 m above sea level ). In the southeast is the Quirl ( 3251 m above sea level ), from which the Malhamhorn is separated by the Steingrubenscharte ( 3085 m above sea level ). To the west of the Malhamhorn is the Gubachkees, to the east is the Southern Malhamkees. In the north the southernmost Malhamspitze ( 3255 m above sea level ).
Promotion opportunities
The Malhamhorn is subordinate to the alpine world and is usually only bypassed if the southeast ridge of the southernmost Malhamspitze is to be climbed. The Malhamhorn itself can either be descended from the summit of the Middle Malhamspitze, either directly along the ridge or by bypassing the Malhamhorn on the south side. A second option is the ascent from the Malhamscharte. The Clarahütte or the Essen-Rostocker Hütte can be chosen as a starting point .
