The Steingrubenkogel , also called Steingrubenkopf ( 3228 m above sea level ), is a mountain peak of the Maurerkamm in the Venediger Group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located in the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger . Neighboring peaks are the Malhamhorn in the northeast and the Quirl in the west.
location
The Steingrubenkogel is a rock massif in the decaying, southern Maurerkamm. It is located north of the stone pit and northwest of the Hohen Grube, two cirques that slope down to the Umbaltal . The huge north-west face of the Steingrubenkogel is called Muswand and delimits the Gubachkees to the south. The southeast ridge separates the stone pit from the Hohen Grube and leads to the Schinakel ( 2874 m above sea level ). In the Northeast, the Malhamscharte separates ( 3096 m above sea level. A. ) the stone pit Kogel from the northeastern Malhamhorn ( 3168 m above sea level. A. ).
Promotion opportunities
The Steingrubenkogel was first climbed on July 15, 1904 by I. Hechenbleikner and E. Franzelin, where they partly reached the summit via the northeast ridge. As a descent they chose the east descent. In the same year A. Langbein and O. Stroß chose the southeast ridge or the Muswandschneide for the ascent.
The normal route to the Steingrubenkogel leads from the Clarahütte on the Hüttensteig around two kilometers out of the valley to the Reggenbach Falls. From here the ascent follows to the right of the stream over grass slopes to the north and pathless to the cirque of the Hohen Grube. West of the largest lake is the ascent into a hollow between the Schinakel and the southeast ridge of the Steingrubenkogel, before reaching the Muswandschneid ( 3115 m above sea level ) on the southeast ridge . Then the final ascent is easy and finally over a few boulders to the summit. The northeast ridge of the Steingrubenkogel, however, has climbing points ( II ).
