The Maurerkamm is a mountain ridge of the Venediger Group in East Tyrol ( Tyrol ). The highest peak of the Maurerkamm is the Hintere Gubachspitze ( 3392 m above sea level ). The Maurerkamm owes its name to the Maurertal valley to the east .
location
The Maurerkamm extends south of the so-called Venedigerstock from north to south. In the east the Maurertal or the Maurerbach separates the Maurerkamm from the Dorferkamm , in the west the Isel or the Umbaltal forms the border to the Umbalkamm and the Roßhufkamm . In the north, the Maurerkamm meets the main ridge of the western part of the Venediger Group on the Simony- or Umbalkees , while in the south the Isel separates the Maurerkamm from the Panargenkamm. The peaks of the Maurerkamm are lined up in a line in the northern half from north to south. The heavily glaciated ridge leads from the Gubach peaks in the north over the Reggenspitze and the Reggentörlturm to the northern and central Malhamspitze. Between the middle and southern Malhamspitze, a long ridge radiates westwards over the Aderscheitl to the Essener Eck , while the main ridge continues over the southern and southernmost Malhamspitze to the Malhamhorn. Here the bricklayer's ridge finally begins to fan out to the south and south-east. Almost the entire Maurerkamm lies in the Hohe Tauern National Park , only the area around the Rostocker Eck and smaller parts to the west of the Maurertal or north of the Umbal Valley are outside the National Park. The closest settlement is Ströden .
tourism
The Maurer Valley and the Umbal Valley are each accessible by a marked hiking trail from south to north. The Essener-Rostocker Hütte is located in the rear Maurer Valley , while the Clarahütte is in the middle of the Umbal Valley . In addition, the Rostocker Eck was made easily accessible by the marked Carl-Bremer-Weg and the Simonysee by another hiking trail. A transition between Umbatal and Maurertal, however, is only possible by crossing a glacier.
