The Dorferkamm is a mountain ridge of the Venediger group in East Tyrol ( Tyrol ). The highest peak of the Dorferkamm is the Große Happ ( 3352  m above sea level ). The Dorferkamm owes its name to the Hinterbichler Dorfertal to the east .

location

The middle part of the Dorferkamm

The Dorferkamm extends south of the so-called Venedigerstock from north to south. It is bordered in the west by the Maurertal or the Maurerbach and in the east by the Hinterbichler Dorfertal or by the Dorfer Bach and in the south by the Virgental or the Isel . In the north, the Happscharte between the Großer Happ and the Großer Geiger forms the border to the main ridge of the central part of the Venediger Group. The peaks of the Dorferkamm line up almost exclusively on a line from north to south, only the Kleine Geiger and the Kleine Happ are a little off the main line. The height of the mountain peaks decreases continuously from north to south. The only glaciated mountain of the Dorferkamm is the Große Happ, whose west flank is covered by Maurerkees and whose east flank is covered by Dorferkees. The northern part of the Dorferkamm north of the Türmljoch lies in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park . The closest settlements are Ströden and Hinterbichl in the south (municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger ).

tourism

The Dorfer Tal and the Maurer Tal are each accessible by a marked hiking trail from south to north. The two routes are also connected via the Türmljoch via the Schweriner Weg. The Johannishütte is located in the rear Dorfer Valley , the Essener Rostocker Hut in the rear Maurer Valley . The Dorferkamm itself, however, is hardly equipped with marked trails. Only from the Groderhof high above Hinterbichl does a less marked path lead to the Finsterwitzkopf.
