The Kleine Happ , also Kleines Happ , ( 2852  m above sea level ) is a mountain peak on the Dorferkamm in the Venediger Group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located in the north of the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger . Neighboring peaks are the Südliche Happ and the Große Happ in the northwest, and the Türml and the Kleine Geiger in the southwest.

Naming and history

The "Happ" is a dialect expression for "sheep", which is why the name of the summit should actually be "Small Happ" and not "Small Happ". The first tourist ascent took place in the summer of 1897 by K. Mittermayer.

location

The Kleine Happ is located in the north of the Dorferkamm in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park . The alpine insignificant summit rises on the western slope of the Hinterbichler Dorfertal above the Dorfergrund and the Dorfer Bach . To the east is the Stredacher Winkl basin with the Maurerbach . The Kleine Happ lies in the shadow of the Grosse Happ in the north-west with its sub-peak to the south, the Southern Happ, which at 3352 and 3304 meters respectively are significantly higher than the Kleine Happ.

Promotion opportunities

The ascent to the Kleiner Happ takes place from the Essener-Rostocker Hütte or from the Johannishütte, first on the marked trail of the Schweriner Weg. At the height of the rocky vein crest, the marked path is left at an altitude of 2494 meters and the grassy flank is climbed to the north before the summit is reached via block steps. Furthermore, the ascent from the Aderkamm can also continue on the block slope to the elevation mark of 2942 meters west of the summit, before the ascent continues on the flat ridge to the summit.
